5/10/2017 Wein Wisser WEIN WISSER (RENÉ GABRIEL) : 17,5 / 20 5/2/2017 Martin WINE ADVOCATE (NEAL MARTIN) : 90-92 / 100 The 2016 Chateau d'Aiguilhe is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc picked from 30 September until 18 October, matured in 30% new oak. It has a warm and sensual bouquet: small macerated black cherries, blueberry and sloes, a light floral tincture emerging with time. This has a little more strictness compared to the 2015 last year. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and good body. Sappy black fruit, a touch of spice towards the finish, and you have yourself a very fine Côtes de Castillon. 4/28/2017 Wine Spectator WINE SPECTATOR (JAMES MOLESWORTH) : 87-90 / 100 Pretty mâche and white asparagus notes bounce along, backed by a light lemon pith hint. A fresh, unencumbered white.—J.M. 4/28/2017 Quarin JEAN-MARC QUARIN (JEAN-MARC QUARIN) : 15 / 20 2016 était la climatologie parfaite pour ce type de sol. Or, goûté plusieurs fois, ce vin se présente avec un fruité trop mûr et une bouche tendre, avec peu de vie dans le fruit et plus aucun rapport avec sa personnalité d’origine. Une déception pour un vin qui fut un Outsider. 4/26/2017 Vinous VINOUS (ANTONIO GALLONI) : 90-92 / 100 The 2016 d'Aiguilhe is gorgeous. A rush of cherry, red plum, espresso, sweet spice and flowers makes a strong first impression. Plump, juicy and beautifully resonant in the glass, the 2016 hits all the right notes. This succulent, inviting wine is a terrific effort from Stephan von Neipperg and his team. Tasted two times. 4/25/2017 Jukes MATTHEWJUKES.COM (MATTHEW JUKES) : 17,5 / 20 (85 Merlot, 15 Cabernet Franc) | 30% new oak | 14.2% alc. | 49 hl/ha. Amazing plum and cherry notes on the nose sound the arrival of this superb wine and the juiciness and the richness are superb. There is a glossiness and sheen to this wine which is very impressive and this exuberance is balanced with bright, tart acidity which drives you straight back to the glass. This is a delicious wine and one of my favourite vintages from this estate. 17.5 4/20/2017 Robinson JANCIS ROBINSON (JANCIS ROBINSON) : 16 / 20 Sweet start and a very solid, well-constructed wine though in 2016 the structure rather dominates the fruit. Almost painful to taste. Rather drying tannins. 16+ 4/10/2017 Wine Spectator WINE SPECTATOR (JAMES MOLESWORTH) : 91-94 / 100 Well-formed and integrated already, with a fleshy edge and good energy throughout. Features plum, anise and blackberry fruit, accented by a streak of bramble.
